China Telecom to Procure 60 Mln CPE, Form Alliance with Chunghwa Telecom

China Telecom chairman said during his visit to Taiwan that the company plans to purchase approximately 60 million units of CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) in 2011, according to a February 23, 2011 report by the Economic Daily News of Taiwan. It is reported that more than two-thirds of the equipment will be 3G devices.

China Telecom signed two MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with Taiwanese telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom, according to a February 24, 2011 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. As per the MOUs, the two companies are reported to share resources, such as network access, products and technology, and jointly provide iEN (Intelligent Energy Network) service in China.
